Summary

edit
Description A pile of fresh oranges for sale in Toronto's Chinatown. The stock appears to have just arrived. Oranges are such an integral part of Chinese culture! Still, these were not mandarin oranges, they appeared more like the sour Mediterranean 'juicing' variety. The present day old Chinatown along Spadina was formerly a Jewish district. With the influx of Chinese immigration during the 1960s due to the lifting of Canada's racial exclusion policies, along with much of the Jewish population moving north along Bathurst Street, Chinese businesses expanded in this area. More notes in subsequent captions and as we go along in this album. (Toronto, Canada, Nov.2015)
