Description
Deutsch: Das Fresko der Kaisertreppe im Frankfurter Pömer vom Schweizer Kunstmaler Giovanni Battista Innocenzo Colombo (1717-1793), den Spross einer bedeutenden italienischen Malerfamilie, der sich 1741 als 24jähriger mit der Ausmalung des Plafonds (Decke eines Raumes) über der Kaisertreppe im Frankfurter Römer erste Sporen auf deutschem Boden verdient hatte. Es war eine Arbeit im Auftrag von Kaiser Karl VII unter dem Thema Der Sieg der Tugend über die Untugend. 1885 stellte der Frankfurter Maler Karl Julius Gräb (1843-1912) im Auftrag der Stadt Frankfurt das knapp 100 Jahre zuvor übertünchten Gemälde wiederher. Diese erfolgreiche, allseits geschätzte Renovierungsarbeit ging durch die Bomben während des Zweiten Weltkriegs unter.
