Description
English: Friar Gate - Derby Numbers 35-39 Friar Gate. Early 19th century terraced farm, with later additions. To the right of the picture can be seen a small portion of Handyside's bridge. This end of the bridge stands on what used to be Short Street - the right hand side of the building shown was on the corner of Short Street. To the left of the picture can be seen a fragment of Pickford's House (home of the famous architect and mason Joseph Pickford [1734 - 1782]). The gate between used to be the driveway to Pickford's building yard at the rear of his home.
