| Description |
English: From track to trail This popular Cardigan to Cilgerran walking/cycling route, which runs between the Teifi and the marshes, is also part of the Otter Trail from the Welsh Wildlife Centre which manages the Teifi Marsh Nature reserve. The trail follows the route of the old 'Cardi bach' railway track which was built up above the water level with an embankment of furnace clinker which can be seen lining the path and which provides another interesting habitat for plants.
The railway, a branch line from Carmarthen, opened in 1885 and was closed by Dr Beeching in 1963 - a great loss, it must have been a stunning trip! |
