Summary edit

Description
English: Fryerfold Incline Also known as Brandy Bottle Incline, these twin incline tunnels have recently been excavated and restored. The incline probably dates from around 1810 and was driven into the fellside on a 1 in 3 gradient to intercept the Fryerfold vein which runs roughly W-E a little to the north. One tunnel[not sure which], apparently never completed, reached down to the flint chert level. There were early attempts to remove ore with trucks and a winding engine, but by 1819 this was replaced by a horse whim.
