Description
Deutsch: Der Hohlweg Zellergraben in Furth bei Göttweig ist wegen seiner Lösswände - und weil viele Gräben in der Vergangenheit zugeschüttet wurden - ein Naturdenkmal. Auf dem Bild sind verschiedene Schichten sichtbar. Die Schotterschicht unten ist ca. 450.000 Jahre alt und entstammt einer mindelzeitlichen Flussterrasse der Donau. Die rötliche Schicht wird einer Warmphase innerhalb der Mindel-Eiszeit zugeordnet. Die Schichten darüber sind während weiterer Kaltzeiten entstanden, wobei die sichtbare Fuge das Ergebnis einer Sedimentationspause ist. Die oberste Schicht ist der Boden der jetzigen Warmzeit. (Siehe dazu die auf Bild 2 der Serie abgebildete Tafel.)
