English: Gabriel Guay, Cosette, detail of the painting exhibited at the Paris Salon of 1882. This engraving by Arthur Napier appeared on p. 312 of the January 7, 1893 edition of L'Univers Illustré. The scene depicted is from Victor Hugo's novel Les Misérables, Part 2, Book III, Chapter V. A copy of this page (mistakenly date June 3, 1893) is in the collection of the Maison de Victor Hugo - Hauteville House, inventory number 2017.0.2954.
