Stabells pensjonatskole i Stjørdal var den private skolen til skolebestyrer Gabriel Bastian Stabell (1846 - 1928) og hans hustru Hilchen Thode Sommerschild (1863 - 1952). De hadde truffet hverandre ved kandidat Stabells privat opprettede og statlig støttede blindeskole på Gløshaugen i Trondhjem (opprettet 1886, flyttet til Klæbu 1893). Gabriel var skolebestyrer og Hilchen var lærerinne i håndarbeid 1888 - 1892. Hilchen var senere lærerinne og inspektør ved Døveskolen i Trondhjem, og 1897 - 1899 var hun skolebestyrer ved Døveskolen på Nordstrand.

Gabriel søkte på stillingen som skolebestyrer ved Christiania Blindeinstitutt, men ble skandaløst forbigått av stortingsmann og Venstre-politiker Lars Bentsen (1838 - 1919).

Hilchen og Gabriel ble gift i 1899, og sammen opprettet de Stabells pensjonatskole på Stjørdalen ca. 1902, en middelskole som ble drevet fram til Gabriels død 1928. Enken Hilchen solgte deretter skolen som så i 1930 ble til Stenseths pensjonatskole. Stjørdal kommune overtok skolen i 1948. Den kommunale skolen synes senere å ha glidd over i dagens fylkeskommunale Ole Vig videregående skole.
