English: Ganapathy Mural at Rumtek Monastery
Rare Gnapathy mural on Buddhist Monastery wall. At Rumtek Monastery, Sikkim, India, there is a painting of Lord Ganapathy. It is said that Saint Karmapa had a vision of Lord Ganesha helping the construction of the monastery, built during 1700s. To cherish the event the Mural is painted. Originally built in the 1700s. It is different from tantric elephant deity found in Vajrayana school. https://www.himalayanart.org/items/500 Other than elephant head, the only similarity is radish- held by Ganapathy in this picture; at tantric Ganapathy the radish held by a monkey, held by deity in left arm. https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/travel/destinations/rumtek-monastery/articleshow/47094063.cms |
