This refers to the place of publication of For Children: The Gates of Paradise in 1793. Blake lived in London during the revisions to plates 1-18, the etching and engraving of plates 19-21, and the printing of this copy. Date: 1793 Composition Date: 1793, c. 1820 Note: Plates 1-18 first etched and engraved in 1793, revised c. 1820; plates 19-21 etched and engraved c. 1820. The work is based on designs Blake drew in his Notebook; some of these sketches may have been executed c. 1790-92. Print Date: c. 1825 Number of Objects: 21 Object Order: 1-21 Note: Bentley plate numbers are used unless otherwise stated. Object Size: platemarks ranging in size between 10.5 x 7.4 cm. and 6.1 x 4.2 cm. Number of Leaves: 21 Leaf Size: 22.8 x 14.3 cm.
