English: Gateway to Pallant House I am told these were originally meant to be ostriches, as this was the adopted emblem of the Peckham family who built the house. However, locals jokingly called it the 'Dodo House' as a reference to their rather dumpy physique. (Thanks to Simon Carey for this information) |
