Gawandii Beach Aboriginal cultural heritage site (shell midden)

Summary

edit
Description
English: This area nearby Gawandii Beach (next to the Shaws Bay Hotel) in East Ballina, NSW, is an Aboriginal cultural heritage site. It is a shell midden and in November 2023 stone bollards were placed around one side to ensure its continued protection. These works were likely completed to prevent cars from parking on the grass. Gawandii is the Bundjalung (local Aboriginal language) word for dolphin.
