Description

North Shore Gay and Lesbian Alliance

Anti-discrimination laws based on sexual orientation were first introduced in 1973. While the state legislature was controlled by Democrats, many of the were social conservatives. The NSGLA worked to help get the law passed. The legislature finally approved the bill and it was signed into law by Governor Dukakis in 1989.
