De Tour de France Féminin kent haar eerste editie in 1984. Eén jaar later start voor het eerst een Belgische selectie. Josiane Vanhuysse wint meteen een etappe, als eerste Belgische ooit. In 1990 gaat deze rittenkoers door het leven als de Tour de la C.E.E. féminin, ofte Ronde van de Europese Gemeenschap en wordt ook buiten Frankrijk gekoerst. Drie jaar later toont Heidi Van De Vijver zich de beste van het pak. Op de proloog na rijdt ze de hele rittenkoers in het geel. De Bornemse wordt eindwinnares voor Leontien Van Moorsel.

The first Tour de France Féminin (Women's Tour de France) was held in 1984. One year later, a Belgian selection was launched for the first time, whereupon Josiane Vanhuysse immediately won a stage, the very first Belgian to achieve this feat. This stage race was known as the Tour of the EEC Women, or the Tour of the European Community in 1990. Three years later Heidi Van De Vijver proved to be the best of the pack. Except for the prologue, she rode the entire stage race in yellow. The cyclist from Bornem became the final winner, ahead of Leontien Van Moorsel.

Le Tour de France féminin connaît sa première édition en 1984. Un an plus tard, une sélection belge prend pour la première fois le départ. Josiane Vanhuysse remporte d’emblée une étape, et devient ainsi la première Belge à réaliser cet exploit. En 1990, cette course par étapes prend le nom de Tour de la C.E.E. féminin et est également disputée hors de France. Trois ans plus tard, Heidi Van de Vijver montre qu’elle est la meilleure du peloton. À l’exception du prologue, elle dispute l’intégralité de la course par étapes en jaune. La coureuse de Bornem terminera première au classement final, devant Leontien Van Moorsel.
