Description
Deutsch: Im April 1951 auf Initiative des VVN errichtetes Mahnmal für die Opfer des Nationalsozialismus im Gelsenkirchener Stadtgarten. Unter den Fenstern der etwa 20 Meter breiten, halbkreisförmigen Anlage sind Steintafeln mit den Namen von acht NS-Konzentrationslagern angebracht. Namentlich gedacht wird an diesem Ort den kommunistischen Opfern der NS-Herrschaft aus Gelsenkirchen sowie auch einzelnen nichtkommunistischen Widerstandskämpfern (so des katholischen Vikars Heinrich König und des sozialdemokratischen Redakteurs Alfred Zingler).[1] Zu den Einzelheiten und Inschriften siehe das unter "Andere Versionen" verlinkte Detailbild.
