Notes Beschreibung aus Karl Woermanns Galeriekatalog 1887: Danaë. Danaë ruht, fast nackt, auf goldner Bettstelle unter goldbraunem Vorhang. Nur ihr linkes Bein bedeckt der dunkelrot und hellgrün schillernde Mantel, auf dem sie ruht. Sie streckt beide Arme dem goldnen Regen entgegen, unter dessen Gestalt der höchste Himmelsgott sich links über ihrem Haupte herabsenkt. Die Dienerin hinter ihrem Lager breitet ihr Gewand aus, um auch etwas von dem Golde zu erhaschen. Amor kniet am Fussende des Lagers und prüft eins der Goldstücke.
