  • Significance: It is an extremely well preserved example of a turn of the century Colorado homestead. The residences and outbuildings, constructed of jacal and stone, illustrate the Hispanic and Anglo vernacular materials and construction techniques common in the Pinon Canyon area of Las Animas County. The older of the two jacal residences, now in ruins, predates the Mary Doyle claim and is shown a 1881 Government Land Office plat map...
