English: Half-length portrait painting of a seated woman in a mauve dress with white sleeves, her arm resting on an urn. As of September 2019, the National Trust description states: "the sitter has formerly been identified as Lady Elizabeth Scot Lindsay, Countess of Hardwicke (1763–1858), the wife of Philip Yorke, the 3rd Earl, although the portrait is now thought to depict his step-mother, Mrs Agneta Yorke (1740–1820)".   • The dress was painted over in black in 1880, which was subsequently removed when Elsie Bambridge (daughter of Rudyard Kipling) acquired the painting.
