George Town (or Georgetown) is the capital of the state of Penang in Malaysia. Named after Britain's King George III, was founded in 1786 by Captain Francis Light, a trader for the British East India Company, as base for the company in the Malay States. On 7 July 2008, George Town was, together with Malacca, formally inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. 喬治市是馬來西亞檳城州的首府，1786年以英國國王喬治三世命名，喬治市位於檳島東北部，以海港貨物交易聞名東南亞。乔治市在2008年7月8日正式和馬六甲州的首府马六甲市一起登录世界文化遗产名录。 |
