Description
English: In 1813 Christopher Marriott, Esq., was resident at Raleigh, as the mural monument he erected in Pilton Church to his sister Georgina Marriott (1791-1813) records:
"Sacred to the memory of Georgina eighth and youngest daughter of the late Randolph Marriott Esq., of Worcester and sister to Christopher Marriott Esq., of Rawleigh House in this parish who died the 29th January 1813 aged 22".
He was the eldest son of Randolph II Marriott (1736-1807)[1] of Worcester (whose "neat marble monument" survives on the south wall of the nave of Worcester Cathedral),[2] the eldest son of Rev. Randolph I Marriott (1698-1782), Rector of Darfield in Yorkshire and chaplain to King George II[3][4] (whose monument is in Darfield Church)[5] by his wife Lady Diana Fielding, a daughter of Basil Feilding, 4th Earl of Denbigh (1668-1717).[6] Christopher's mother was the eldest daughter of Christopher Wilson (d.1792), Bishop of Bristol.[7]
