Description
Deutsch: Die perspektivische Darstellung auf der Grundlage der mit den HRSC-Stereobilddaten erzeugten digitalen Geländemodelle lässt die an den östlichen Abhängen des Atlantis-Beckens (im Hintergrund) und einer kleineren Senke im Süden zu Tage tretenden Schichtköpfe gut erkennen. Die hellen Ablagerungen stammen von wasserhaltigen Tonmineralen.

Atlantis Chaos befindet sich in einer kreisrunden Tiefebene von etwa 200 Kilometern Durchmesser, dem Atlantis-Becken im südlichen Marshochland bei etwa 34 Grad südlicher Breite und 183 Grad östlicher Länge. Das Atlantis-Becken könnte Bestandteil eines großen, stehenden Gewässers, des Eridana-Sees in der Hochebene von Sirenum Terra, gewesen sein.
