English: Debenture of the Society of German Republicans for 35 Kreuzer or 1/3 Thaler, bearing interest at 5 per cent, issued on 1 November 1848 in Biel, Switzerland in favour of the German Republic, signed in the original by the revolutionary general Johann Philipp Becker as president of the Wehrbund "Hilf dir". Signed as chief executive by the revolutionary Julius Standau. Among the leading members of the Society of German Republicans were Gustav Struve and Friedrich Hecker. Gustav von Struve was a liberal deputy of the Baden chamber. In the year, the German revolution took place, 1848, he organised together with Friedrich Hecker irregular troops to conquer Southern Germany (Baden Revolution). The uprising, however, was depressed. With the financial means realised by selling the Debentures, the group wanted to finance the spreading of democratic principles.
