Ghasyari

Summary edit

Description
English: Ghasiyari is a dance of the Jaunsar region of Tihri district in Uttarakhand. In older times, when there was no other source of entertainment, women of this region performed the dance as they went about their daily work. It is now performed on joyous occasions like marriages, and festivities like Holi and Diwali. Dancers wearing the traditional ghagra and waist-coat, present the performance to the accompaniment of the drum, flute and the ranasingha – the huge S-shaped horn. Group of Bhagirathi Kala Sangam Samiti are performing the Ghasiyari dance.
