Description
English: As seen in August 2021, faded ghost signs appear on the north side of the former Simon Electric Company building on Ellicott Street in downtown Buffalo, New York. From top to bottom are advertised:
  • the People's Furniture Company, a furniture and housewares manufacturer in business on nearby Washington Street from 1887 until 1911
  • Kelvinator, a home appliance manufacturer founded in 1914 and dissolved in 1986; this advertisement plugs "refrigerators, ranges", and on the much harder-to-read second line, "home freezers and Morton kitchens" (the latter referring to a line of steel kitchen cabinets produced by the Morton Manufacturing Company and sold exclusively through Nash-Kelvinator in the 1940s and '50s)
  • on the bottom, an ad for the Simon Electric Company itself (a purveyor of electrical fixtures and supplies in business since 1926) overlays an earlier one for the short-lived Frontier Trunk & Leather Goods Company advertising "trunks, bags, (illegible), catalogue and briefcases"; they were in business on Mechanic Street from 1922 until '26.
