Description
English: Gifford & Garvald Light Railway bridge In Newhall Wood the Gifford & Garvald Light Railway, crossed the Newhall Burn on this bridge. By the time this line opened, in 1901, concrete was becoming a favoured medium for bridges and the abutments and parapet walls here are of this material. Close inspection will show, however, that the bridge no longer has a deck, necessitating on this occasion the fording of the stream on a nearby farm track. Fortunately there had recently been a dry spell of weather!
