Summary

Description

"This modified 'saltbox' home was probably built ca. 1820 and later moved from Main Street to this location. The Ezra Gilbert family were the first to own and live in this house at this location in the 1840s. It is noteworthy for the intact preservation of a modest early nineteenth-century laborer's home." The Worthington Historical Society

I remember that I could see the house, on the NE corner of Hartford and Granville, from the playground when I attended 5th and 6th grades in 1935-36. And I recall that the Paul Carruthers lived here in the 1950's and/or 1960's. Paul was the owner of Worthington Realty.

"1863 Worthington Homer Tuller and Ezra Gilbert are paid to plant 62 trees on the public square (Village Green)" ( I assume this was the same Ezra Gilbert who first lived in the house.)
