Præsten Christen Nielsen Spend fra Vor Frue Kirke i Vordingborg gør korsets tegn over gøngehøvdingen Svend Poulsen, før præsten hemmeligt forlader kirken for at undgå de svenske soldater. Svend Poulsen (ca. 1610 - ca. 1679) og Christen Nielsen Spend (ca. 1632 - 1679) var virkelige personer, men historien er fiktion. Svend Poulsens udseende er også fantasi, for der kendes ingen portrætter af ham. Christen Nielsen Spend er til gengæld gengivet væsentligt ældre, end han faktisk var.
English: Illustration by Poul Steffensen from the Danish novel Gjøngehøvdingen by Carit Etlar which takes place during the Dano-Swedish War in 1657-1658. The priest Christen Nielsen Spend of Vor Frue Kirke in Vordingborg makes the sign of the cross for Svend Poulsen, Gøngehøvdingen, before the priest secretly escapes the church to avoid the Swedish troops. Svend Poulsen (app. 1610 - app. 1679) and Christen Nielsen Spend (app. 1632 - 1679) were real persons but the story is fiction. The look of Svend Poulsen is also fantasy as there is no known portraits of him. Christen Nielsen Spend in turn appears a lot older than he actually was. |
