Description
Nederlands: Glas-in-loodraam Hugo de Groot uit 1957 in het voormalige gemeentehuis aan het Koningin Julianaplein in Spijkenisse. In zijn hand houdt hij zijn werk "De iure belli ac pacis" (over het recht van oorlog en vrede) uit 1625. Midden onder is zijn wapen en zijn zinspreuk: Hora ruit (De tijd snelt voort). Hugo de Groot kreeg dit raam omdat hij de grondslag legde voor de wetgeving.
Over FOP: Dit kunstwerk is in het voormalige gemeentehuis van Spijkenisse, in de voormalige raadzaal, nu trouwzaal. Het gemeentehuis was een openbaar gebouw. De raadzaal werd in ieder geval wekelijks gebruikt voor vergaderingen van de gemeenteraad, die voor publiek gratis toegankelijk waren (publieke tribune). En sinds de opening in 1958 wordt deze zaal (ook) gebruikt voor huwelijksvoltrekkingen. Dit kunstwerk was dus indertijds bedoeld om gezien te worden door gemeenteraad en publiek.
