Description
English: It seems that whenever we visit a new place that has an underground railway system we just have to try it!

Glasgow's is actually a bit of a gem. Firstly, it's really, really old. It started operation in 1896(!) making it the third oldest underground railway system in the world. It's about six miles long and the route hasn't changed since it opened all those decades ago.

Other oddities. It runs completely underground which is unusual. It's so old that it uses a non standard gauge, being 4ft rather than the 'standard' 4' 8.5" and it has teeny tiny tunnels only 11 feet across meaning that the trains are also really tiny. If you're very tall you won't be able to stand upright in the cars.

I'm also delighted to report that the trains are largely orange, and we like orange metro trains. :) It was great fun, and a good one to try.

The Public Domain Mark (PDM) is not a copyright license, but a symbol used to indicate that a work is in the public domain. When it is applied by the author or the copyright holder, community consensus has decided such works as being public domain in the US and countries where it is legally possible to release own work to the public domain. In the countries where this is not possible, the copyright status of the work remains undetermined.
If a file is tagged with Public Domain Mark by someone other than the author or the copyright holder, a more specific copyright tag such as one found at Commons:Copyright tags/General public domain must be applied. If this is your own work, please use {{Cc-zero}} instead.
