Description |
English: White, cylindrical shaped, glass bead. White, cylindrical shaped, undecorated, hand-drawn glass bead with chopped ends. According to Lester A. Ross, author of Trade Beads from Archeological Excavations at Fort Union Trading Post National Historic Site, “a drawn bead was manufactured from a tube drawn from a gather of molten glass. Tubes were chopped, cut, and sawn into bead-length segments for subsequent finishing, sorting, and packaging.” This bead is an example of “the simplest of the unfinished monochrome beads. They have circular cross sections, consists of short to long segments chopped from drawn tubes, and do not appear fire polished or hot tumbled.”
