Description
English:

Historic photo of a group of men on a boat with a cable above it.

Of the many iterations of the actual ferry at Lees Ferry, the one that saw the most use was in 1910, as Charles H Spencer gathered men and supplies for his ill-fated gold mining endeavor. The swiftness of the Colorado River often capsized the ferry, drowning men in the process. After Spencer gave up on his gold mining, the ferry eventually capsized for the last time, and was replaced by Navajo Bridge in 1929.
