.@NASA We’re bringing the best in space tech & computing to the problem of CO2 and #climatechange. #EarthRightNow FB, etc. With increasing amounts of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere leading to potentially dramatic changes in Earth’s climate, NASA is using space exploration technology and advanced computer tools to better understand this important greenhouse gas and its impact on our planet. Last year, NASA launched the Orbiting Carbon Observatory-2 to begin measuring carbon dioxide worldwide in great detail. And a new ultra-high-resolution computer model at our Goddard Space Flight Center is giving scientists an incredible new look at how carbon dioxide in the atmosphere travels around the globe. The simulations show swirling plumes of carbon dioxide shifting as winds move the greenhouse gas through the atmosphere. The simulation helps scientists study the regional and seasonal shifts in carbon dioxide. Scientists worldwide use NASA data and research tools to tackle some of the biggest questions about how our planet is changing now and how Earth could change in the future.
