English: Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Equipment) 2nd Class Joseph Mikes from air department's launch and recovery division charges an arresting gear engine to recover aircraft aboard Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74). Arresting gear engines are charged with specific pressures to recover multiple types of aircraft during flight operations. John C. Stennis Carrier Strike Group is conducting operations in support of the Global War on Terrorism and is participating in an Expeditionary Strike Force exercise consisting of three Strike Groups: John C.
