| Description |
Built at Baginton in 1957, ‘XA699’ returned there for Preservation in 1983. The only surviving Javelin FAW.5 and one of only ten complete survivors, she was previously in 5sqn markings, but has recently been repainted into genuine 151sqn colours from her time based at RAF Leuchars. On display at the Midland Air Museum, Coventry Airport, UK. 11-10-2015 The following info is from the Midland Air Museum website:- “The first twin engine delta wing aircraft, the Javelin was an impressively large aircraft for a fighter and first flew in 1951. Serving only with the RAF and being retired in 1968, nearly 400 were built. The Museum's example is the only remaining Mk.5 in existence and has been recently restored.” |
