English: U.S. Navy General Motors FM-2 Wildcat fighters from Composite Squadron 65 (VC-65) "Flying Goats" flying in formation, circa 1944. VC-65 flew General Motors FM-2s and Grumman TBM-1 Avenger torpedo bombers. The squadron operated from the escort carrier USS St. Lo (CVE-63) in 1944 until the carrier was sunk off the Philippines by a Kamikaze suicide plane on 25 October 1944. |
