Description

The icon of God Rested on the Seventh Day is rare and unusual. The top of this icon features the Lord Sabaoth resting on a bed with the Sign Mother of God above him. Christ is shown here as a winged child. To the right He is on the Crucifix supported by the Lord Sabaoth, to the left He is being blessed.

The entire upper scene is encased in blue to represent Heaven. Below this is an altar bearing the Eucharist being carried downward from Heaven toward a congregation of saints. The same altar is at the very bottom in front of a Bishop who is holding the Gospels and blessing the groupings of saints.
