| Description |
English: Built in 1930, this Art Deco-style skyscraper was designed by Howard W. Goetz, Sr. for the Middletown Building and Deposit Association, a bank, to house their offices and banking hall. The building features a limestone exterior with replacement windows, decorative sculptural reliefs, a massing that tapers with setbacks towards the roofline, decorative griffin sculptures on the facade above the front entrance door, decorative pendant-style light fixtures flanking the front entrance bay, an arched front entrance bay, large windows at the first floor, decorative metal screens at the smaller first floor windows, and a granite-clad base. The building is a contributing structure in the Main Street Commercial Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014. The building underwent a rehabilitation for adaptive reuse in 2023-2024, and now serves as an apartment building. |
