DescriptionGolden Ratio. Display Animation.gif |
English: Caption: For each vertical composite bar, the ratio of the lengths of the blue and red bars are the same.
In the animation the special characteristic of the golden ratio is displayed in a graphical way. For each vertical composite bar, the ratio of the length of the blue bar and the red bar is the same. Specifically, the total length of each composite bar, divided by the length of its blue bar is equal to the golden ratio or, φ = (red+blue)/blue ) = 1.618... . Each new composite bar is created by taking the length of the red bar and subtracting it from the length of the blue bar to get a new red bar. This is done over and over again, each time getting the golden ratio. The reason for this is that, for each composite bar, the length of the blue bar divided by the length of the red bar also equals the golden ratio or, φ = blue/red = 1.618... . This in fact is the definition of the golden ratio, specifically φ = (red+blue)/blue = blue/red. Created for Wikipeidia
