"Illustration featuring the canal and bridge at Goodale Park. Dr. Lincoln Goodale donated nearly 40 acres of land off Goodale Street with specific requirements in the deed stating that the land “shall be forever kept and preserved as a public park, or pleasure ground, for the free and common use”. In 1805 Dr. Goodale moved to Franklinton, Ohio and at the age of 23 became the areas first physician. He also opened a pharmacy, and later used the profit to purchase real estate. He enlisted in the war of 1812 and after which he moved into Columbus and opened L. Goodale & Co. which was a dry goods store. Dr. Goodale also held political offices in Columbus, city councilmen and city recorder."
