Summary edit
DescriptionGoose Lake Meteorite on Exhibit.jpg |
English: 1945. The Goose Lake meteorite was found by three men from Oakland, California, out hunting on October 13, 1938. Although it was catalogued into the collection of the US National Museum in 1939 (Acc.#1332), it remained in California until 1941 -- where it was displayed at the Golden Gate International Exposition in San Francisco. It reached Washington on January 17, 1941, and went on display in the meteorites hall at some point thereafter. The hall was dismantled in the mid-late 1950s, as part of the Exhibits Modernization Program. The meteorite is still on display today. |
