Description

The ruins of the 5,500 year old Ġgantija temple complex at the end of the Xagħra plateau on the Maltese island of Gozo.

The two Ġgantija temples were erected out of massive blocks of stone, using simple stone and bone tools, during the Neolithic Age from 3600-2500 BCE. This makes the temples more than 5,500 years old and the world's second oldest manmade religious structures, after Göbekli Tepe in modern Turkey.
