También incluído en «Theatrum Orbis Terrarum», obra de Abraham Ortelius, Amberes, en cuyo pie se lee «Donsellas Biscainas y Gasconas...» y puede verse a una de ellas con un cántaro a la cabeza que tiene semejanzas con el cántaro pirenaico (aunque por el tipo de asa abatible parece tratarse de una vasija metálica).
Français cadien : La scène gravée par Georgio Housnaglio en 1567 nous montre la façon de s'habiller des paysans basques à cette époque. A gauche, deux femmes mariées et un homme s'acheminent vers Vitoria; elles portent de la laine filée ou en touffes pour la vendre au marché et couvrent leur tête de coiffures volumineuses dont les formes compliquées variaient d'un village à l'autre. L'homme, armé d'une pique et d'une arbalète, est revêtu de chausses, d'une chemise et d'un pourpoint aŭ manches ballonnées. Les deŭ jeunes filles qui se croisent sur le chemin se dirigent vers la rivière, en portant sur leur tête le linge à laver dans un panier rond et une cruche primitive remplie d'eau; les deŭ sont des jeunes célibataires et c'est pourquoi elles ont la tête découverte. |
