Description
Español: La Gran Biblioteca Pública de Lima, sede histórica de la Biblioteca Nacional del Perú, está ubicada en la esquina de la Av. Abancay y el jirón Ucayali en el Centro Histórico de Lima. El actual edificio fue construido tras el incendio de 1943 que destruyó por completo la Biblioteca Nacional. El historiador y bibliotecario Jorge Basadre dirigió esta reconstrucción y en 1944 creó la Escuela Nacional de Bibliotecarios del Perú y la Sala infantil. La Gran Biblioteca Pública de Lima cuenta con diversas salas de lectura: infantil, escolar, de ciencias, de artes y letras, hemeroteca, sala de estudios y sala para personas con discapacidad visual, entre otras.
