editDescriptionGrantham Station geograph-2463411-by-Ben-Brooksbank.jpg |
English: Down iron ore train passing through Grantham Station. View southward, towards Peterbrough and London; ex-GN ECML. The ore train, probably from the mines off the main line at Highdyke (four miles south of Grantham) and destined for the Appleby-Frodingham steelworks at Scunthorpe, is headed by a later Gresley Class O2/3 2-8-0 built 12/42 and rebuilt 8/57 as an O2/4 with 100A boiler. |
