Description
English: The gravestone of a ship's apprentice boy in the Old Protestant Cemetery in Macau. The inscription of the gravestone, which appears garbled, states: "ERECTED / by Alerr [Alexander?] Athson master of the / Brits Ship James Potons of Ayr / memory of The Peunington [Pennington?] his / apprentice Boy who died on hourd [board?] / at this Port on the 1st Janunry [January] / 1861. Through the Effects of a fall into the bold [hold?] / Deeply regreted". It may be that the deceased was James Potons of Ayr, the apprentice boy of a British ship called The Peunington (or Pennington).
