Summary edit

Description
English: Graving Dock on the Shropshire Union Canal This Graving Dock is between the Shropshire Union Canal on the right, and the canal on the left that provides access to the Dee Basin and the River Dee. The Graving dock has its own lock gate and it could be pumped dry to allow the examination of, or repairs to, the narrow boats. The 1882 O.S. map shows it without a roof, but by 1899 it had been covered, which would have provided better working conditions for the men.
