Description

The Green River Formation of Utah-Colorado-Wyoming is a widespread, Eocene-aged lake deposit. It is famous for having vast oil shale deposits and containing exquisitely-preserved fossils.

Stratigraphy: Green River Formation, Lower Eocene

Locality: looking south from White Mountain Road, near the eroded edge of White Mountain Plateau, west of the town of Rock Springs, southwestern Wyoming, USA
