English: Grey Heron (Ardea cinerea). A very surprised heron is looking at the intruder. At first it does not move at all but after perhaps a minute has passed it slinks away into the high vegetation growing alongside the bank of the stream. The birds feed on fish and frogs which they catch in shallow water, and insects. Herons will also catch and eat small mammals, reptiles and occasionally small birds. Characteristically it can be seen waiting motionless, or slowly stalking its prey.
