Description
English: Griffydam well The name of the village is from the old English terms for a dragon, or griffin, and dam meaning well or water source. The story is that in 'olden tymes', a griffin resided there in the small cave under the rock, and wouldn't allow villagers to collect water. Until a chivalrous knight rode by and slew the beast.
