Description

The rocky outcrop is characterised by degradation morphologies called 'tafoni', which are common in maritime areas but rare in the Apennines. In this case, erosion is due to the aggressive action of humidity condensation water and wind. The Soprasasso Caves (Grotta dei Piatti, Grotta Buia and Grotta di Soprasasso) are a geological site of local importance located in the Municipality of Vergato, in the Bolognese Apennines.
